Adult Choirs
Chancel Choir…
meets Wednesdays, late August through June, 7:00--8:00 p.m. This choir provides music leadership at the 10:50 worship service each week. The choir sings a variety of choral music including special music services during Christmas and Easter. This choir invites participation for all adult age groups. No audition is required. Handbell Choir…
meets on Wednesdays, late August through June, 5:45--6:45 p.m. in Room 304. This group rings music during 10:50 worship about once each month. The only requirement for membership is a desire to ring handbells, and we welcome anyone to join this group. Contact Dr. Thom Whitaker (ext. 108) for more information.
Youth Choir…
meets during the Sunday School hour (9:40 a.m.) during the school year. They sing more contemporary music in a variety of styles--often accompanied by guitar. Membership in this choir is open to any youth in grades 6-12. No audition is required. Contact Devon Krause, Director of Youth Ministry (ext. 112) for more information.
Programs for Children
Programs for children in First Grade through Fifth Grade meet on Wednesdays from 4:30--5:15 p.m., September through mid-May. We use a rotating schedule that includes choir and chime groups. Choirs meet in Room 326 and Chimers in Room 304. For more information contact Dr. Thom Whitaker (ext. 108).
Asbury Choir…
is for children in First and Second Grade . We begin to explore our faith through the music of the church, learning scripture and spiritual concepts through song. We also explore the hymnal and learn about worship. Of course we learn music basics through singing together with a good sound and learning the language of music.
Wesley Choir…
is for children in Second through Fifth Grades. These children learn the importance of being worship leaders as well as the importance of music in our faith. They learn the great hymns of the church as well as many anthems prepared for worship.
Asbury Chimers…
is for children in First and Second Grades. Ringing handchimes is another fun way to learn the music of the church. The children work on basic ringing technique, recognizing notes and learning to read rhythms.
Wesley Chimers…
is for children in Second through Fifth Grades. These children become more advanced in their handchime ringing and music reading. They learn the importance of being a part of a group where their contribution is vital. Wesley Chimers ring often in the 10:50 worship service.
