Missions Ministries
First Church has many ways for members of our congregation to support local missions in the community and farther:
Open Your Heart is a program we have run successfully for many years where one local mission is chosen monthly and members are encouraged to bring specified items to support this mission.
Team Taft is a partnership between First Church and Taft Elementary. Church members are given the opportunities for hands-on work with the students of this local elementary school; the school is provided for during one or more months of the year through the Open Your Heart Project; and groups are given opportunities to help complete projects on the school grounds.
Summer Serve is a summer program for the youth to go into the community each week to volunteer their time at a local mission site
Mission Trips: Members of the congregation are given opportunities several times a year to participate in mission trips to sites within the state, within the USA, and helping our neighbors in other countries. From storm clean-up to building houses, there are opportunities for all skill levels.
